Top U.S Story: Controversy strikes during the Oval Office meeting with Zelenskyy

  • On Friday, a meeting between U.S President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy escalated quickly when Trump and Vice President Vance accused Ukraine of lacking gratitude for U.S support during the war. 

  • This meeting resulted in the postponement of a recent deal with Ukraine that would have given the U.S 50% of Ukraine’s mineral profit. It also has many worried about the future of the relationship between the two countries. 

  • Zelenskyy later said, “Humans and human rights come first. We’re truly thankful. We only want strong relations with America, and I really hope we will have them,” in an attempt to get his original point across, which the press says got miscommunicated during the meeting (Washington Post).


Top Asia Story: Israel has cut off all Gaza aid 

  • Israel has now cut off any and all aid that was entering Gaza in an effort to extend the ceasefire. However, some are classifying it as extortion, the NGO Oxfam calling it “A reckless act of collective punishment.” 

  • By cutting off aid, Israel is only worsening the famine that Gaza has experienced for years. 

  • Israel's hope behind this plan is for Hamas to release the remaining hostages and to secure a permanent ceasefire.
